The workshop is a classic in landscape and coast photography over 5 nights, including dinner, bed and breakfast.
Yorkshire is quite astounding for a county in England. It is an absolute one off, certainly an original in what it has to offer, all in one county.
It is superb for beautiful and rugged landscape photography. From Mountain fells and moors to the Limestone Pavements, nowhere in the world can lay claim to such amazing geological wonders.
We also travel over to the coast for one of the days, taking in Saltburn, Staithes and Whitby area of this superb coastline.
Relaxed approach
All the workshops we run are based on a very relaxed format to make the most of your time and importantly enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I don't chase around the countryside from one location to another. This course is also about learning to slow down and study with your eyes.
Understanding what is happening in nature and the weather patterns is a huge part of taking a great photograph. I will show you to use your eye's and resolve the compositional puzzle that is presented at each new location we visit. I will also give you an insight on how to read the weather so you know when to anticipate dynamic light.

A Typical Workshop Day will involve the following;
Dawn Shoot – Times will vary depending on the time of year but we will be on location and set up 30 minutes before sunrise.
The rest of the day will be filled with dramatic locations and understanding all aspects of landscape photography. We will stop for a light lunch and photography discussion around 1.00pm.
The evening will comprise of a review of the days photography.
Accommodation
We will be staying in Richmond for this workshop of Yorkshire. The hotel is perfectly placed to explore the Yorkshire Dales and its classic limestone pavements along with all of its wonderful photographic potential.
One of the days on this workshop will be over on the coast, taking in Staithes, Saltburn and Saltwick Bay.

Bring along the camera equipment you are most familiar with and have a good understanding of its basic settings. Most cameras work in a similar way so I can help with some of the finer points.
It can be digital or film, I use both, the only point I would add here is that it is nice to view the days photographs in the evening all together, digital photography allows for this activity.
Fitness- The photography does require some moderate hill walking so a little fitness is required, a pair of walking boots are
beneficial to the terrain.

Arrival - We meet up in Yorkshire on the first day at 4.30pm. We can then head out for the first photographic shoot of the weekend. This will leave plenty of time to be back at the Hotel for Dinner and discuss the morning location.
